Никольское

A Place Steeped in History

Nikolskoe is a historic location in southwestern Berlin, picturesquely situated between Lake Wannsee, the Havel River, and Potsdam. The name derives from the Russian word "Никольское" and means "Belonging to Nikolai". As early as the early 19th century, a unique ensemble of Russian-inspired architecture was built here, which remains one of the region's standout attractions to this day.

The history of Nikolskoe is closely linked to the Prussian royal house. King Frederick William III commissioned the blockhouse in 1819 as a special surprise for his daughter Charlotte of Prussia and her husband Nicholas, the future Tsar of Russia. Together with the nearby Church of St. Peter and Paul and the unique park landscape, a venue was created that retains its cultural and historical significance to this day.
